The Jostaberry (commonly pronounced "yosta-" or "yustaberry") is a cross between the black currant and gosseberry. These plants produce berries that taste largely like a gooseberry with a touch of black currant, and even hints of grape. The fruit is great for juicing, preserves, wine, snacking right off the bush, and desserts. The fruits ripen around the same time as currants--around mid-summer. Highly resistant to White Pine Blister Rust and common mildew-related diseases. Hardy down to USDA zone 4.
